Half-Way Point

Little One, today you turned two-and-a-half. Have we reached that point already?

You're a big boy and you have more energy than I can keep up with. Yet, behind that energy is a passion to enjoy life to its fullest. I can hardly reprimand you when I see the joy you're having, even though what you are doing is not a wise choice.

Some things we're experiencing:

*Grateful for the two boys to go to bed...ah, time for Mommy to get work done around the house, yes even at 3:00 am.

*Waking up to a midnight caper...oh my!

*Watching you playing on the playground with friends...don't push! take turns!

*Listening to you make train sounds as you push a train down the track...give that back to her! watch out! don't push your friends! yes, that does make a neat sound!

*Watching you thumb the pages of Mommy's books for hours, somehow the flipping page edges really captivate you... that's Mommy's book, no it's my book!

*Getting a chance to finally stay home with you... he's wearing me out! I didn't know he had so much energy!

*Playing outdoors and in your room with you, learning new ways to be creative in our play...owhwwww! I think he broke my nose! Stay out of the street! Ride your bike in the driveway! Let's draw with chalk on the driveway. Oooo, what a neat bug!

*Singing songs in the car...no, no song Mama, no song any more! Well then you sing! (followed by feeble, yet beautiful attempts at singing)

*Bringing home my supper (late-night snack) after work and you sharing the food...Hubby, why is he not in bed? Little One ate the WHOLE double-cheese burger and half a Flurry!!!!!

*Calendar time and counting the days of the month, alphabet games, computer games (you can do these by yourself now), matching and sorting colors (don't eat the M&Ms), reading books, watching videos, Super Why!, Elmo!, and play, play, play...learning is a life-long journey!

*Aahhh! A shopping trip by myself, praise God!

*Watching father and son bond...a precious sight!

Though you are growing everyday, at night I still sneak into your room and look at my sleeping Little One. Even now, the peacefulness that is on your face is enticing me to pick you up and rock you. You're still my little boy. I hope you stay that way for a while.
