This morning I was awakened by a new alarm clock. I think it might be time to move our traditional one.
For the last couple months, Little One has been coming into our room in the middle of the night, crying "Mama, mama." In a dazed, semi-awake mode, I pull him into bed, too exhausted to take him back to his own. Since this has become a habit, waking up to an empty bed is not a problem. Granted it is sweet to wake up to Little One curled up next to me. Usually we sleep in until about 8:30, sometimes 9:00.
This morning though, we needed an alarm clock to get up for church. However, I never have been good with alarm clocks. Hubby got up at 6:30 to get ready for church. He set the alarm for me for 8:00. Little One and I went back to sleep. At 8:00, Little One aroused first when the alarm went off. I managed to wriggled out of bed into the cold air and hit the snooze button. Little One said something about turning the alarm off - "off" being the only word I understood. Then I sleepily trodded back to bed. I heard Little One say "night-night Mama" and he left the room to go play.
When the alarm went off nine minutes later, I laid in bed hearing it, but not ready to move. Little One came back into the room with blanket in tow. I heard him reach for the alarm clock, turn the power switch to off, and put it back, meanwhile babbling the same sentence about turning it "off." My thoughts wandered as I laid there trying to figure out how he knew how to turn it off. I heard him say something about "up" and he climbed into bed. Then a shock. An icy cold hand appeared on my lips. I opened my eyes and a bright, smiling face greeted me, "HI MAMA!!" He then grabbed the covers saying, "night-night," and climbed back under. I was again greeted by an icy cold shock. We laid there a couple minutes for him to warm up, then I finally got out of bed.
