Gall Stones
So, it was my turn in the ER this morning. Two weeks ago we were there for Ben when he had a sinus infection. At 4:30 this morning I (April) woke up to severe pain just under my sternum and rib cage. As the pain increased, I couldn't breathe, stand or sit. We called the ambulance. Just as they arrived, the pain disapated. Fearing the worst, they loaded me up in the ambulance and took me to the ER. After a battery of tests, xrays, and ultrasound, it was determined I have gall stones. Since I had one other attack like this a few months ago, the ER doctor said it was best to have my gallbladder removed. So I've been recommended to a surgeon. My consultation is this Friday and my surgery will be next Tuesday.
We had some ER humor that kept us entertained between tests. Benjamin needed things to occupy himself. He made faces at the nurses through the glass doors at the end of the room by smashing his face against the glass. Then he discovered the IV pole and was pushing it around the room. It was especially amusing to me because, laying in the bed, I couldn't see Ben on the floor. All I could see was the top of the pole moving around the room.
