A Normal Evening

Today, we were in Bolivar for church. Hubby is prospective music minister at a church there. Exciting times and great opportunity. Felt like we were back home. After church, we went out to lunch with the pastor and his wife. Then we went back to the church. Hubby wanted to look through their music library and Little One was down for his nap in the nursery. I crashed on the floor by the crib for about an hour. I'm still adjusting to working nights. Every couple hours or so I need a nap.

Afterwards I helped Hubby look through the music until about 3:30 when Little One woke up. We played in the nursery until Hubby was finally ready to leave at 4:30. We got home shortly after 5:00. Hubby crashed upstairs and Little One and I enjoyed a great movie on Starz, "The Game Plan," and enjoying a good wrestling and climbing time. At 7:00 Little One and I jumped on the bed to wake up Hubby. Two hours is enough! We then all cleaned up Little One's huge mess in his room. I then got on the computer and Hubby put together the train table again.

While the boys played trains, I changed into my nightgown, then went downstairs and started laundry and supper. Little One followed me down and I fixed him a plate of chicken and veggies. I looked at the clock and it was already 8:30. Little One ate his supper then started begging me to go to bed. Yes, begging me. He was so very tired. I sent him upstairs for Hubby to put him to bed while I watched the food on the stove.

By 9:00 the house was quiet, supper was in progress, and Hubby was watching TV on the couch. The dishwasher was empty, two pitchers of Koolaid and a pitcher of juice had been made, cat box emptied, laundry in progress, trash and recycling had been taken to the curb and all was well. I thought, "Wow, this is the first NORMAL evening we've had since I started McDs back a couple months ago. Strange feeling."

While cooking supper, I had seen my Pampered Chef sugar shaker sitting in the spice cabinet and had a craving for cinn/sugar toast. So I made some. Hubby came into the kitchen and was impressed that I was making supper. Then he saw me eating my toast & drinking milk. "Where's mine?" So I made some more for him and another for me. Good stuff.

Supper is now ready and I'm looking forward to a nice evening of watching TV and playing Scrabble with Hubby. Ah, a relaxing night. We needed it. I work 5pm-1am again tomorrow and probably all the rest of this week too. I think they finally understand now though that I don't want to work that much. Curious to see next Friday what my next schedule is. Hope it is better.
