BTS Shopping Savings

FREE STUFF, love it! Three free tapes, two 10pks of pens, and two deodorants! See below!

I've been very excited about how some of my deals have worked out in my back-to-school shopping. Knowing this would be a large purchase (one in first grade, and a few supplies for my 3yo going to preschool, sniff, sniff), I wanted to plan it out for the best savings. I took time to get caught up on cleaning and organizing my coupon basket. Then I sat down with all the store ads from this last week. A couple weeks ago, I had gone down the list at Walmart and written down all their prices on the items my son needed. So I went through the ads and priced compared on a sheet of paper. Gathering all my coupons, shopper ads and notes, we headed to Walmart. If I didn't have a coupon for the item, it was price-matched. I left with half of his supplies for not even $6.

At Walmart, (pic below) the most expensive thing I had to buy were the First Grade Writing Tablets at $1.97/each. I picked up a pencil case, $0.97, price-matched to Target for $0.50. Five Star one-subj notebooks were price-matched to $1/each at Target, coupon for $1/2, made two notebooks for $1, and those are really NICE notebooks. BIC Cristal Pens 10pk were price-matched to Hy-Vee for 2/$1, with a $1/2 coupon making them FREE.

This past week, Target had Scotch tape free with coupon. Target is half-an-hour away for us. Since I knew going to the next town just for free tape wouldn't happen, I stopped at our neighborhood Price Cutter, who also price-matches. Along with my FREE tape (price-matched to Target $0.50, my coupon of $0.25 was doubled to make it free), I picked up a Starkist Tuna Pouch ($1.19 with $0.55 coupon) and left the store with two items for $0.65 (pic below). I've fallen in love with these little pouches. I buy the Tuna Salad pouch. I pack it with two slices of bread in my Hubby's lunch box. Squeeze the pouch onto the bread and instant tuna salad sandwich. It tastes great.

We ended up going into the next town the next day, so I asked Hubby if we could go to Target and see some of their great deals. I ended up with two more tape coupons, so in total I have three FREE Scotch tapes. In tissues, I found a $0.99 box of UpNUp brand, with online TG coupons $0.50, made those $0.49/e. In antibacterial wipes, the UpNUp were $1.72 (only one on shelf) and two at $1.92 (needed three for school), with online TG $0.75 coupons, those were only $0.97 and $1.17/e. The 3-pk Lysol at Walmart was $4.88. These were $3.31 together. Also, I picked up the spaghetti dinner combo of buy any two (sauce and noodle), get $1.00 off. So I got $1.32 sauce and $1.03 spaghetti, made both only $1.35. I picked up two sets since I had two online TG coupons. My total at Target was only $6.04 for 11 items, savings of $8.39. Fun, fun!!!

Above, you can also see some of the other school supplies I picked up. Index cards we use for sight words $0.50/e, paint strips for my preschooler at $0.97/e, and erasers at $0.49 and $0.99. These were great buys too.

Tonight, I noticed at Dollar General (pic below), I had printed an online DG coupon for $1/2 Suave deodorants. I found on the shelf a smaller-sized Suave deodorant for only $1. Ahhh!! Matched with a manufacturer coupon for $1/2, I left the store with two deodorants for FREE.
