One of Little One's favorite "games" is for me to hold him and sing "Rock-a-bye Baby." At the end I pretend to drop him and he laughs then begs to do it again. We'll do this several times before I tire of it.
Now that I've started watching some other children on occasion, I've downloaded some lullabies onto my computer and turn it on when they nap. I love lullaby music. I could listen to it all the time. It is so comforting, even for us adults.
Tonight, Little One was restless and being silly in his bed. I turned on the lullabies to calm him down. The first song struck me into a "mama moment." I asked Little One if I could rock him. On occasion I just crave that special bonding time.
After a song or two, Little One started getting into the "Rock-a-bye Baby" routine. All the sudden he turned it to me, "Mama, close your eyes. Go to sleep."
I shut my eyes and snored to play along with him. He then preceeded to sing the entire song to me. I was amazed. The only lyric he got stuck on was "when the bough breaks," but he sang the entire song. It was a cherished moment. He did this several times before I had to give in and put him back in bed.
