Nite-nite & Prayers

Bedtime is becoming one of my favorite times with Little One. How special it is to hear him learning to pray. I, of course, do the praying, but he is learning. Each night, Little One gets more and more involved in the praying. He is learning names really well now. If you ask him to say your name, he probably will.

Here was tonight's episode. After we cleaned up his room, went potty, brushed teeth, then it was story and prayer time. Tonight, I read him a book he got from Aunt Jenn at his birthday, Hide & Seek with Grover. At the end of the book, I got a little silly and asked Little One (who by this time was totally enthralled with the book) to give Grover a high five and to kiss him nite-nite. He did.

Then we read our devotional. [Each night, we say prayers with a prayer bear, whom Little One is now calling Amen. Usually I mouth the prayer and at the end he says Amen.] After the devotional, I asked Little One where Amen was. He reached over and grabbed the bear, squeezed the hand, and (this was new tonight) said Amen over and over through the prayer. Awww! Then I lead Little One through thankful prayers saying, "Thank you God for..." For each one, he repeats it back. Tonight he was into saying names. He says mama, daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, Papa, sometimes Gigi. Tonight the other names he said were Brian, Jenn, Ashley, Bailey, Amy, Lydia. Then we go through our animal sounds and thank God for each one. The new animal sound he has learned is the monkey. Then I say, "In Jesus name, Amen." Then we say nite-nite. Amazing...

"Thank you, dear Lord, for showing us the faith of the little ones and for drawing them unto you."
