Science Project

I wanted to try making popcorn on the stove. The first time I tried this, I think I used too much oil in the bottom of the pan. The finished corn left oil on your hand and it made my stomach churn. I think I have that figured out especially since we have to cook four batches of corn to fill our big popcorn bowl.

The next time I made popcorn I decided to use this as a science activity with Tweety Bird one day. Here are some pics and videos of us popping the corn.

Here's Tweety Bird watching from his perch. (Pardon the pun.)

First you put a little oil in the pan and only one or two kernels. You heat up the oil and wait for the two kernels to pop. This tells you the oil is hot enough to cook the corn. Then you add just enough corn to cover the bottom of the pan.

Then you wait and watch the corn pop.

And you wait some more.

Then you wait for it to cool a minute or two until all the kernels stop popping.

Then pour it in a pan and season. We use seasoning salt and powdered ranch dressing. Enjoy!
